In 2021, during the third semester of the Industrial Design degree amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, our main design project was to create a seating solution for the Andreu World International Design Contest, a globally recognized furniture brand. The objective was to craft a sustainable furniture piece suitable for various spaces, whether indoor or outdoor, public or private. The deliverable was a high-fidelity 1:5 scale model sent from Mexico City to Andreu World's facilities in Valencia, Spain.
Nikté is an outdoor chair made of concrete and stainless steel rods, chosen for their durability, adaptability, and potential for reintegration into technical life cycles through recycling or reuse at the end of their lifespan. It merges geometric and organic forms found in nature, serving as an abstract representation of a flower, hence its name "Nikté," which means "flower" in the Mayan language.
